I was thinking of picking up a pair of Red Wing Rugged Classics as a heavy duty winter boot, but apparently the two J.Crew's around here don't even have any footwear to try on. Anyone know where else might have these that I could try them on?

You could give me some Chi suggestions, I guess, since I'm planning a trip down to Barney's once once their good sale kicks in.

I'm a perfect fit in 8D (no that's not a penis, it's 8 D) for the 875's. I heard you typically need to add insoles to your shoes. Should I stick with the 8 or size up a 1/2 in order to make room for the insoles?

You don't have to really size down in these. I usually wear a 7.5 in RWs, 7.5 in Chucks, 8.5-9 in most tennis shoes, and I wear an 8 in these Heritage Chukkas, YMMV. great price on Zappos!

If they're a perfect fit, don't add insoles.

For those 1907 owners: What have you done or can recommend for the dark black spots that occur randomly through normal wear? Is it possible, through repetitive treatment (mink oil/sno sneal) that the leather will lose its initial rugged look and become softer and create a shine?
