No use in me saying it now, but for the benefit of anyone else, there is a care instruction that says test it in a small area that cannot be noticed, e.g. the hidden part of the tongue.

Since the damage has already been done, you just have to keep wearing it. It will be less noticeable with time.

i am sure somewhere there is a boot distressed exactly like that with a hefitier price tag than what you paid. I would say rock the hell out of them. they don't look all that bad from the picture you posted, atleast not in my opinion.

Did you not think of testing a small patch prior to submerging the whole boot in that ****?

I'd have to see a picture of the whole boot, but I agree with this poster. They seem to have developed a patina that, to me, resembles finished wood. Also, sometimes cool is confidently rocking the **** out of something a bit idiosyncratic.

I would try some Obenauf's or Pecard's leather conditioner. But you may be stuck with it. I believe silicone sprays can dissolve some of the natural oils in oil tanned leather. That's why I'd try to replace them with a conditioner and see if that helps.

Keep wearing them, the silicone will wear off soon enough.

TBH, it doesn't look all that different from the original.
