I was in your position about eight months ago, and I went with a pair of jeans in the same price range as APC and a pair of Gap Original Khakis. I was surprised to discover that I was just fine with having two pairs. I finally got a third pair of pants today, but that's really because I got the khakis in black, which isn't the most versatile color. If I'd gotten the Gap Khakis in tan, brown, stone, or green, I think I'd still be fine with two.

Chino concrete is fine.

Yeah, I guess that is the one downside. However, it looks like there are pretty good fitting guides online.

Anyways, what do you guys think about me adding this J.Crew Cotton-Cashmere V-neck sweater (yacht blue) to that list and pulling the trigger on it?

for what it's worth, the cotton cashmere is the worst material in knits that j.crew offers. go for lambswool, then merino wool, then cashmere.

cotton cashmere will look like **** after a few washes.

and no offense, but this is getting old. buy what YOU like, not what we like. everything you posted are safe bets. you are not going to be made fun of on the playground because you are wearing a hanes tee.

Don't do this. Almost no matter where you live (okay, maybe if you're in Rural Wyoming, then no, but otherwise) there will be somewhere within driving distance that will sell APC and Nudie at least, if not better brands. Try the damn things on before you buy them online. If you have one pair of jeans and that pair doesn't fit you properly, you won't enjoy wearing them.

I am buying what I like. I'm just trying to get a little advice from people who know clothes more than me. I'm sorry if you think this thread is dragged out, but it's because I keep having questions. If I had stopped posting awhile ago I would've ended up getting a ******, cotton-cashmere sweater. So as long as I'm getting worthwhile information I'm going to keep asking you guys questions. Sorry if it annoys you, but I'm just trying to get my money's worth and broaden my knowledge.

That being I said I am probably going to go down to the mall or something tomorrow and try and check out some of these items.

Thanks. Knowing that it worked for you I'll give two pairs a chance also.

I was thinking about getting one button down shirt. I think that will be enough because I probably would'nt wear button down shirts more than once a week. Probably in some sort of blue.

Also, is there any real difference between a dress shirt and a button-down shirt? They look pretty similar to me...

when you go to the mall, look at jcrew and try a bunch on and see what you like. there are shirts cut more for wearing tucked in with a tie/suit. you'll look the more casual looking shirts. you'll be able to tell th difference

Alright, thanks. Hopefully I'll be able to find everything I have listed (or something similar) at my local mall.

Umm, this is probably a stupid question, but how do I find places that sell APC and Nudies? I'm guessing Target, Gap, J.Crew, etc. do not carry them. Are there any big chains that might have them?

I live in Maine and the closest store to me is in Boston about 80 km away...

I'm guessing APC will be the same way. So should I just go ahead and buy offline? I know it's important to try your clothes on before you purchase, but I really don't feel like taking a roadtrip to Massachusetts to get a single pair of jeans.

EDIT: Yeah, APC had one retailer up in Portland, ME. That's about as far away as the Boston stores, so I'm not sure it's really worth it driving up there either.
