Yea, that's not the greatest color. They come in a lot of different colors though, and every season (or at least every year?) the light wash is slightly different. You can prob find old season light wash denims in the First Cut design on eBay or sale sections.

Last but not least, what did people think of Balenciaga? I was surprised to find that I thought it was awesome (after the opening set of looks with the awkward hips). It kept everything I like about Vetements, basically meaning the fun plays on construction, and ditched everything I hate about it, like the sullen hipster angst and the ridiculous proportions that still make me laugh when I see people wearing the stuff on the street. (Have now seen two bombers in the wild and both looked awful.) But Balenciaga was awesome. Hope he does mens too.

That Dynasty comparison is hilarious.

I really liked the Balenciaga stuff as well. Agree it feels less hipstery and more fun. Really dig the parkas, the trench coats, and his take on the double rider (finally something more than just some minimalist, lux take). Also like the reconstructed flowery hippie dresses.

The sleeves are still ridiculous, but it's also kind of awesome to hear they're making it into stores and people are wearing them.

Looking for lightweight pre-washed blue jeans. Loose in the thigh, slightly elongated crotch, tapered, and cropped. Soft and comfy. Don't want heavy selvage stuff, but don't want H&M. What are my options? Thrift some 501's and be daring with a sewing machine?

I almost made a post about how bad the Balenciaga collection was. I get the approach- make a list of wardrobe staples and mess with them, and I'm sure some of the construction techniques were fairly complicated, but there was nothing really inspiring. A couple of the coats were cool, but the deformed structured pieces were poorly executed (compare to fall 08/spring 09 for instance), and then there were those platform boots. Dear lord. Watch the video.

I wear Our Legacy's First Cut, which kind of fits that description. Comes in all sorts of colors (including washed denim). Retails for $175-ish, but very easy to find for under $100.

Don't know if I would call the model an elongated crotch, but it has a higher rise than APC NS. Fuller in the thigh as well, and tapers to about a 7.25" opening on the size 30 model.

Yea, these workout well for me. I got them for like $40 from the Our Legacy sample sale. I should have snatched up like 4 of them in different washes.. darn.

I also should have gotten that washed dnim jacket with the tiger on the back.. darn. But my suitcase hardly held what I bought.

just thrift some 80s/90s 501s -- you might not need to taper/crop if you find a shorter inseam.

I really want a long pullover anorak/ poncho type jacket. Anybody know of a vintage military anorak model I should look out for? Designer option recommendations would be cool too, maybe from Cabourn, EG, Needles rebuild etc. or maybe from a more technical brand. The key is long length, something like this Remi Relief one...

So, this piece in particular, and a few others like it, were particularly terrible. I have no idea who is going to buy them. Playing wih extreme proportions is interesting when it creates drama, but is is merely dowdy. It;s not even exaggerated enough to create an interesting effect. It looks merely bad.

Some of the coats were cool, but I don't know if they make up for these pieces.

 was one of the best SF guest hosts of all time. He had fit pics, architecture, stores, detail shots, food, cdg guarachero boots, and kangaroos. What more could you ask for?
