Hey!

I was at a mens store yesterday trying on a Barbour quilted jacket, the model with corduroy collar. I believe the model is called liddesdale.

Unfortunately I couldn't find a good fit. I'm 6.1" and quite broad across the shoulders. The XL size was almost good across back and shoulders, however, when buttoned, the jacket creased across the chest, indicating it was too tight. The other issue was that size XL, while almost good across back and shoulders, meant a sea of fabric over my belly area.

Could the jacket be altered at a tailor? Or is there some other brands you recommend? A friend suggested Lavenham, but they don't have a retailer in my area.

Thanks for any and all suggestions.

Try to look around at major brands, high street or luxury, they often will have quilted jackets since it is in the fashion.
I saw a quilted jacket from Paul Smith before and it looks very nice.

Also Barbour had a lot of designs for quilted jacket, you might try McQ. edition for a slimmer fit, or the international line with belts

Don't bother to tailor a Barbour jacket.

Thanks for the input. I live in a fairly small town, but might take a trip to Stockholm to try out more brands. I'll definetly look at the jacket from Paul Smith you mentioned.

I saw McQ Edition at the local Barbour store yesterday, but I don't care much for the design, it's not as elegant and timeless imo. I'm not much for symbols or other fashion details on my clothing.

Brunello Cucinelli has a midlenght quilted jacket which I saw on YOOX that I find truly beautiful, however it's a bit expensive for such a piece :(

There are a few other Barbour models that are more tailored. Try to find a shop with a broader selection.
