Has anyone had experience ordering suits/sport coats? I own a number of proper cloth shirts that I sized based off the measurements of a bespoke shirt and they fit very well, but I’m curious how the suiting process compares?

I can add to this too. I ordered a tuxedo for my wedding kind of last minute after a MTM order I made was a complete disaster (so much so that I refused to go back and have them try again).

I used the measurements off my best-fitting custom suit, and they were pretty bang on. Actually putting in another suit order shortly for an upcoming summer wedding.

Just received my first suit from PC (Loro Piana in Navy). Happy with the fit and overall quality but wow is it wrinkled to oblivion. I have gotten a few jackets that were mildly out of shape when received which resolved with hanging and a couple wears, but this is much worse.

Any recommendations on the best way to resolve the deformities? I'm reading that steaming is bad, hanging in shower is bad, taking to dry cleaner is bad... Should I just go get it pressed?

Who said steaming is bad?

What’s the construction? Full canvas?

I’d take it to a trusted dry cleaner and ask for a press only without cleaning.

Sounds like they were had a ****** suit? I think you'd be good.
Perhaps? It could be a quality issue, but also also be an issue with steaming in general. Some of the esteemed bespoke tailors who comment on the forum have commented against steaming (see Despos or JefferyD). Since both of them would use hand made techniques, quality alone can't explain issues with steaming.

I've ordered two shirts from proper cloth for an interview I have in one week's time.
They've been displatched (to UK) but the delivery date is showing as.... the date of the interview... when I'll be... at the interview.
I've been in touch via the website and PC staff promised to see if the shipping could be expedited whilst en-route, but they haven't been back in touch with me since...

anyone have experience of something like this... ?

I don't think that Proper Cloth will have the ability to expedite the delivery since it has already been dispatched.

Something else to keep in mind. You will not only need to receive the shirt but also launder the shirt which would be a lot to do on the morning of your interview. I typically launder the shirt twice before wearing out to shrink it down to the correct size (as they add extra material to account for this.)

I'd probably just get a decent fitting off the rack shirt and consider taking to a tailor if necessary.

well, the good news is I was panicking for nothing. They arrived just now, and are already in the wash. They're the 5th and 6th shirt I've ordered and the first that actually fit, hooray (one white one, one chambray one). I took the measurements from an Eton shirt that fitted well and then tweaked them a bit. going from measurements made on my body was a bit of a disaster somehow.

Great. My last order came well before the delivery window as well.

How close were the actual, delivered measurements to the ones you provided? I'm just curious since Seph has said they've revamped their "shrinkage allowance" ? I would be a frequent customer if I could predict what the measurements would turn out to be.

I’ve washed and worn once now so I’ll measure it for you after the next wash!

One thing I’ve noticed is that although it’s a much, much better fit than any of the other shirts I’ve ordered, there is something a bit funny going on with the arms/shoulders/yoke/collar.

- The shoulders fit width wise, but the yoke seems very far forwards on my shoulders?
- The collar is tight against the front of my neck when buttoned up, with room at rear, but I wouldn’t say its gaping at the rear, just pulling a bit at the front.
- there are those odd lines around the sleeve/armholes too.

none of this seems to fit any of the ‘common problems’ on the PC website unfortunately. Any suggested tweaks to sort this, if indeed it’s a thing to sort?

(It’s not tight on the chest, or pulled at any buttons there, though that is the first place it pulls a little bit when I move/stretch arms backwards. (I always swim butterfly in dress shirts).

@Seph Your team did an excellent job accounting for my arm limb length discrepancy with my suit jacket pattern (0.2” shorter on the right than the left). I was curious if your team would ever consider allowing a similar feature for pants. I have the same problem with having a minor limb length discrepancy with my legs.

Does anyone have experience with the Weston White Pinpoint fabric? I'm looking for a white dress shirt that I can wear with a tie in spring and summer when it's around 20 to 30 degrees Celsius. I have never ordered from Proper Cloth before, but I have tried Luxire a few times so I know my shirt measurements.

Do you think the Weston Pinpoint is a good fabric for a dress shirt? Any other recommendations?
