Are there any distinctly French pieces that one might want to pick up in Paris, the way a Barbour jacket is quintessentially British?

I got the impression that there are a number of items that can be made with a French aesthetic but few are distinctly French. You have the beret arguably, but that has become tourist costume in Paris. I'll set aside breton stripe shirts for this discussion.

Only thing I can really think of is the chore jacket.

What about a Charvet shirt, or one of those Saint James sailor's sweaters with the buttons on the shoulder?

Otherwise - I know a tie isn't strictly French but there's a fun independent boutique called https://www.cinabre-paris.com/en/ who make ties for President Macron, which might be a stylish souvenir from Paris.

I have one from Le Mont Saint Michel which I think is one of the original makers of the chore jacket. I bought one when I visited Paris.

OK those look like great work jackets. Interesting they only have one store in Paris.

I've heard that the vintage scene in Paris is good. I don't have any first hand experience.

Hey for Le Mont Saint Michel, is it right that the traditional French blue is the classic color, same with US denim workwear? What other colors are classic and popular, would those be "kraft" (its dark yellow) and off white, even though blue is by far the classic color?

And any input on the fit? I assume it's cut like regular jackets given the classic workwear heritage, not slim designer cut.

I think the navy or blue is the classic color but @RJman might know better. The fit is a little bit fuller cut and the cotton is really thick in true workwear fashion. For me the sleeves run long because of my short arms so I always have to wear it with the sleeves rolled up.

I highly recommend you go to the store in Paris if you're going to buy one to try on the size. It's really wonky. I tried to order online based off of the measurements and it was like 4 sizes too big. I had to spend a bunch of money returning it back to Paris and just waited to buy one in store.

The French blue is the typical work jacket/work shirt color, but honestly I think that you should pick the color that makes you happy!

re restaurants I'm a pretty lowkey dude and nowadays pretty touristy in my eating habits in Paris. Emily in Paris has caused ludicrous lines to get into old favorite cliches Angelina and Cafe Flore, neither are worth it for the wait.
