haha. well i normally wouldn't but ATT fucked up my order and i don't want to wait 2 weeks.

Early Thoughts:

Siri is sweet. I've thrown a lot of at it and it's pretty solid, however she does not recognize "teach my how to dougie". I've set reminders, appointments, alarms, etc. it's very nice. i've even mumbled a few phrases and thought no way it will pick that up and it does.

Camera is legit. WAY WAY WAY improved over mine and noticeably better than the 4.

Speed. very snappy. even compared to the 4, it loads apps faster.

iCloud backup and sync worked like a charm. backed up my phone last night, got mine this morning, turned it on and it prompted to backup from iCloud and in 30 minutes all my same music, bookmarks, settings were on the new one and i'm off and running.

Played around with one last night.

First target: Siri.
First letdown: Siri.
Reason - Doesn't work in Canada. God damn it!


We compared it to a 4... Download speeds are quicker. Not by much, but quicker.
Apps load marginally faster.
Camera is nice... But I wasn't complaining about the 4's.

Bottom line:
3g/3gs - upgrade
4 - not worth it.

Canada sucks as it is... At least let us have Siri!

This. If Apple follows the trend of releasing a new model then an upgraded one every couple years it will be the norm.

local Target has a few 16gbs. checking for 32. come oohn!

Got to the store at 6am and there already 125-150 people in line. But once 8am hit, the line MOVED. There were 100 Apple store employees on hand. Before going in, everyone got a card with their desired phone (color, memory, carrier) and judging by the STACKS of cards they had, there was PUH-LENTY of inventory on hand.

New phone is fast as hell. and restoring from an icloud backup was just....awesome.

Brain - what time did you get to the store this morning?

about 5:45. i was going to do one of two things. there is a large ATT store on my way to the Apple Store. if that was too busy i was going to Apple. I ended up staying at ATT since there were not a lot of people there. by the time the store opened, i'd say there was 75 people in line.

Take it for what's worth, but i saw a lot of people with Android phones switching to iPhone. Blackberry too. I was the only one in my immediate surroundings that was going from a previous model to the new one.

AAARGH! upgraded mine oct. 9 through the att upgrader app ... just checked and it's "back-ordered". what's the point of offering the app? probably another week stuck with an ancient 3g. bummed.

Huh, I walked into an ATT store at 1130 AM and they had them in stock..

Siri is overrated.
I asked for nearby Redbox locations and it came back with a bunch of unrelated businesses. Total fail.
I said I needed to go to the bathroom (I really did) and it said there are no public restrooms. I was 100 yards from a supermarket and a Home Depot. Can't make that simple leap?
I asked how many gigabytes of storage I have left and it wanted to do a web search for how many gigabytes of storage I have left. Fail.
I asked for directions to Elliot's Martini Bar and it said it could not find Elliot in my contacts. Total fail.
I asked for the score to yesterday's baseball game. It gave me a Wolfram definition of baseball. Total fail.
It doesn't seem to work with most apps. Hope that gets updated somehow.

Was able to schedule a doctors appointment and dictate a text message. Meh.

I'm warming up to the 4S though after disappointment at no iPhone 5.

Benchmark tests are very impressive. Camera is great quality and super fast. The design is still the most stylish compared to ubiquitous Android styles.
Even the 3.5" display is starting to make sense. Wish it was 3.8"... Phone fits great in the hand and pocket. iOS will be first to get apps and updates compared to Android. They've sucked me in!
