Ok, haven't started anything "official" yet, hoping I'm not ignoring some kind of protocol, lol

But with summer just around the corner, and most of the discussions here focusing on artisan raw denim (which tends to start stiff and heavy), I thought we could benefit from a discussion of lightweight denim.

Personally, I'm looking for a pair or summer and am considering some of the new Levi's Made & Crafted or else a pair of Earnest Sewn. What's everyone else doing for lightweight summer denim?

The Sugar Cane 2009 was recommended as a lightweight slim-straight jean in another thread. I have no experience with them, but they're definitely an option.

N&F makes a lightweight denim in the WG cut- I owned a pair for a brief time and it was considerably lighter than my APC NS. I don't know the specific weight in oz, but the N&F would make a good summer jean...

I thought about these, but what (if any) fades do you think I'll get? I'm contemplating pre-distressed because I'm skeptical about the light stuff, with less starching, fading as well.

I am not really sure- the pair I had were brand new and I never wore them other than to try them on once.

Sugar Cane 2009's are a great summer jean, problem is that most sizes are sold out.
Especially in size 28

All of Uniqlo's non-selvage jeans are pretty thin and lightweight.

you dont need starch for fades.

just wear them and they'll fade? sometimes, people think too much about it; they're just jeans.

My bad, I always forget that I'm offset from forum time by a few hours. As to the actual topic, I've always been intrigued by the Jean Shop chambray jean, although it is not technically lightweight "denim".

Many nudies have what I would consider rather light denim (low oz)

lighter weight jeans are not gonna produce good fades IMO, unless you like really pinched looking white lines everywhere. 12oz is light, 14oz is wearable 4-season.

^^ i disagree.

8oz to 10 oz is lighter in weight

10.5 to 12.75 is normal

anything above that gets heavy.

On this forum I think people are so use to wearing 13.5 oz jeans and up so they can't wrap their heads around anything lighter.

Levis used and still uses 10oz denim. It rocks. Now the 8oz pima thats some comfortable stuff.

I'm surprised there aren't more recommendations and people asking about lightweight jeans here ... heavy jeans are pretty uncomfy in the summer.
