Hi all,

I have a question on sizing for the 4497 last. I wear a 9.5UK in the chukka polo on the w2298 last (feels snug) and a 9.5UK on C&J bradford on the 341 last and a 9UK in the coniston on the 325 last.

Should I stick with 9.5UK or size down to 9UK if I'm looking to buy either the burford or grasmere?

Any thoughts or advice would help!

I wear the same size in the 4497 and 325. I sized down half for the 4444.

If you take a 9 in the coniston then 9 should work in 4497. Also be aware that standard Grassmere are a 6 fit so slightly wider than Burfords. Kudu Grassmere are 5 fit though.

Was curious to see examples of well used black Olivia deer skin leather. I’m curious to see whether the black finish wears off to show some tea core effect. I’m seeing something to that effect on my black deerskin Stows but I don’t have the camera gear that would capture said effect to be able to show it here.

Is the Olivia not dyed black all the way through? I don’t have any deerskin but my calf skin Burfords are straight black. Even the lining. And the deer skin looks the same from the photos.

Hmmm I guess that is what I am trying to establish. The tanning process is a bit different maybe seeing as it is supposed to be all organic so I was wondering if the product is different. All other Tricker’s calf that I have are dyed through it would seem. My Caf’e burnished calf have not yielded their original dye at all.

I wear the same size in the 4497 and 325. I sized down half for the 4444.

Sorry if this advice is contradictory but if you wear 9.5 on the w2298 last and if it is snug I would not size down to 9 for the 4497.
I wear the same size for both the 2298 and the 4497. The 2298 is snug around the toes but I find the 4497 has more room in that area.
But as ever in this debate the shape of your foot as well as the length and width can influence what is comfortable for you personally.

I agree that it seems strange that C&J 325 fits in 9uk but 2298 is snug in 9.5uk

Can’t imagine how light they must me. My Olivia calf on a v-lite sole already weighs almost nothing.

2298 in 9.5UK is snug with thin dress socks and 325 coniston in 9UK is still relatively roomy with medium thick socks. I might have weird feet...
