Got these Aldo style chukkas on a farfetch sale recently...they are on the w2298 last ...got these in a size UK8 while my last w2298 were 8.5UK. I now see why they say the 2298 get narrow in the toes. undecided yet if I'm 8 or 8.5 ... but like the rich coffee color, quality etc...

Nice. Gumlite soles too, which should make for a super lightweight and comfy shoe.

I've been looking for a pair of Sign Kudu shoes or boots. Found a pair of Woodstock in my size on Matchesfashion where the images look exactly like Kudu while the description says "deer". The descriptions on Matchesfashion are notoriously inaccurate, so I went by the pics - I'll post what they turn out to be when they arrive;-)

Is it the black ones? They are deer rather than kudu (larger deer !). Massive difference as the Kudu leather is thick and rugged whilst the deer leather is thinner. I’ve the deer and are insanely comfortable but not sure of it’s longevity. The caramel ones on their are Kudu!

Those ones I assume you ordered look like they could be caramel kudu. Just a guess.

Yes..wore them with a thinner sock today...and the chukka's rock...very nice..highly recommend..just watch out for a more narrow toe experience on the w2298...

Has anyone had any success or know someone who can darken a natural welt on trickers?

Anyone have any experience with the 81 last?. It looks a bit narrower in the toe area. Wouldn’t mind a pair of Fenwicks or similar.

81 is similar to w2298.
So narrower than 4497 but probably not enough to change size.

Fenwicks is still around too. They sell Grenson and possibly Church’s but no Trickers unfortunately

I find they darken fairly fast with wear but I would imagine an application of conditioner or an oil such as neatsfoot would darken them a few shades. Being natural leather, leaving them in the sunlight should also have a darkening effect.

The ones I ordered look a vibrant reddish brown on the pics - Caramel Kudu would be exactly what I want. Can't wait for them to arrive!

Those are caramel Kudu, lovely shoe and colour combo. If you’ve not had Kudu before. It doesn’t need polished just a horse hair brush after wear.
