"Noisy" raincoat?

I bought a 100% cotton raincoat from Crombie online and when I put it on it produces a sound comparable to that of a medieval knight wearing his armour (might be a desirable feature), but also a swooshing sound when walking (if arms touch the body) and when putting hands in the pockets or taking them out. It also feels rather plasticky compared to my other raincoats of different materials (which make no sound).

Is this normal for (cotton) raincoats? Will it disappear as it gets worn?

I'm not sure whether to return it on grounds that one's clothes should be seen and not heard, or not.

As the fabric is worn in the will lessen although some remain quite stiff for some time, I have sold many cotton raincoats from as far back as the 1960's that still have the stiffness after all those years :)

Sorry I don't have anything useful to offer, but this needs to be posted

Mod's, we gotta close this thread because this is the only acceptable response that can be posted.

FWIW, I have a rubberized cotton rain jacket that I've owned for six years and it still makes swooshing noises.
