June 1 (Bloomberg) -- Shaquille O'Neal, who played 19
seasons in the National Basketball Association, announced his
retirement.
O'Neal, who played for the Boston Celtics last season, won
four titles: three with the Los Angeles Lakers and one with the
Miami Heat. He made the announcement in a video he posted on
Twitter.

The Lakers didn't defend the perimeter.

I was at game 4 and I don't know whether they showed it on TV or not, but on one of those 3 pointers Jason Terry got the ball, called down a waitress from one of the higher priced sections, ordered a cocktail and then...can't remember...he may or may not have lit a cigarette...then lined up and shot a wide open 3 pointer.

I kept thinking that LA would fix that, but they never did. None of the shots I saw last night were quite that wide open.

Whenever I see highlights from the laker series I always laugh because in every frame peja and terry are wide open, there may have been one contested attempt that I saw though. We all knew that the 9-10 and 6-6 performance would never be replicated for as long as they live so no surprise there really. Still want dirk and lebron to lose simultaneously.

No. I'm a Mavs homer (see above) and even I know this isn't true. If the Mavs try to win this series 24 feet away from the basket they will lose in 4.

Exactly. The Mavs can only win if they attack the basket and play good defense. That said, last night a lot of their misses were from point blank range. Those have to start going in. Dallas played D well enough to win last night, but they won't win by shooting 40% from the paint (or whatever it was).

Everyone focuses on the Mavs 3 point shooting and that's fine, but that only works to a certain degree. It is there to open up the middle. Last night the middle was somewhat available, but the Mavs weren't hitting the shots from inside.

Dirk drives on Dwayne Wade (twice) and misses?

On a better night, without those shots going down, the Mavs (and Dirk) would have put their heads down and gone inside and gotten to the foul line. That didn't happen much last night. Also no one besides Dirk stepped up.

Also with the Mavs size advantage, if they continue to get outrebounded they'll lose and lose big.

Roses are Red
Violets are Blue
Dirk's still a *****
Who knew?

Even w Kobe gone there's someone left to hate on.

Dirk's never been a ***** and the only people who think so have no clue what they're talking about.

Most of his front teeth are implants from having them knocked out going inside. Every time it's happened he's just cleaned up the blood and gone back in the game. He did start wearing a mouth guard a few years ago.

Will be playing tonight with a torn tendon in the ring finger of his left hand.
