Thought you guys would find this interesting. The Sound of Young America is one of my favorite podcasts. The show has nothing at all to do with fashion or style whatsoever so I was surprised to see this short posted about RRL. Warning: Fanboys may want to skip this if you don't want your feelings hurt.

Don't know his real name but his SN is YoungAmerican. He has a link to his show in his sig. Apparently he was on earlier this afternoon.

All the RRL I've seen has been made in USA, what's this story about made in Guatamala belts? Is he just dumb? I don't understand what joy people get from bashing people who spend money on clothing if it's what they like.

People seem to laugh heartily at the idea of someone middle class, or at least not loaded, buying $250 jeans or $500 shoes, but they seem to think it's okay when someone on the same financial footing drops $60,000 for a Lexus or a BMW. At least in my family, I don't know anyone who's gone broke off of buying clothes. But I know of people who are in trouble due to cars...

Of all my RRL pieces (not a vast collection or anything), just one item is made in America.

edit: then again, all of my RRL is from ebay, so maybe I'm buying older stuff and the newer stuff has changed, I don't know.

I only have one thing from RRL, but I've seen at least 5-10 other pieces in the RL outlet and they were USA. But I'm no expert either.

Do all young americans sound like whiny, self-involved obnoxious idiots?

i thought it was pretty funny, but i too am eternally amused at wealthy people paying a premium to look rugged / working class. probably because i'm from a working class background though, so the idea of paying large amounts of money to imitate that aesthetic is incredibly foreign to me - not that there's anything wrong with it.

Marc's got his own podcast now, WTF with Marc Maron, and this commentary is a re-record of something he was speaking about in an early ep.

I guess Marc's an acquired taste, but I think he's great, and his podcast's really good so far - kind of stream-of-consciouness stories about consumerism and stealing from Whole Foods, and conversations with other standups like Jim Gaffigan and Patton Oswalt. Little skits and other things. New Marc, I think, is a little more mellow than old Marc.

Oh, yeah, you should listen to the Sound of Young America, too.
