Well that was a really average rant.

Didn't people get on the whole OMFG so overpriced RL! years ago?

Also echo about expensive cars / houses / holidays. +1

At least in my family, I don't know anyone who's gone broke off of buying clothes. But I know of people who are in trouble due to cars...

you are a genius

I like you, but in my opinion, Marc's one of the funniest guys around.

That said: this commentary was a first for the show and a first for Marc, so it's very much a beta. And it was total coincidence that it was about the SW&D forum.

You've got to bring Louis CK back (and talk him into a Pootie Tang sequel for me).

I doubt very few young Americans would even listen to this program or find it interesting. It is mostly content directed at the wanna-be new liberal elite whom believe they are wiser and more informed than the averge Walmart shopping citizen. So a whiny arrogance comes with the territory. It is basically just a more irreverent version of something you might find on NPR or PBS-- not popular stuff, but still sometimes interesting to listen to. I enjoyed the RRL rant.

I would love to listen to a radio program about shopping at Walmart, making great taxidermy, contempo-country... I just don't know where to find these programs so I'm stuck with The Sound of Young America which pretends not to be all that stuff.

You have somehow managed to come off as an even bigger asshole than the guy you quoted, especially knowing that the host of the show posts on this board. Have a little tact and don't judge his entire show or his audience on a single audio clip.

Dur. RRL is a pretty easy target. Clothes modeled after functional, affordable MIA clothes, but made in China, w/o any functional purpose and expensive.

But I still like a lot of it.

My response was in reference to someone else asking if the show was representative of young Americans. With a presumptuous title such as "The Sound Young America", one has to wonder. So I listened to several other audio clips. One that caught my interest was the interview with the filmmaker of "Objectified". In this interview somehow Karl Marx is brought up followed by a discussion on designing products that encourage sustainability. Only a very narrow demographic would be willing to listen to such a dry interview on this particular subject. I can take a educated guess: college educated, idealistic/young, political, arts lover, and left leaning. Anyway, I had already said I enjoyed listening his RRL rant-- the host seemed like a funny guy. So what I previously said is hardily an insult any more than it would be to point out who the main viewers of a Fox News TV show likely are. Oh and I never called anyone an "asshole", only you have done that.
