Most do not size down in loafers on Goya compared to oxfords / derbys, especially not Europeans (who in general have slightly wider and higher feet than Americans), since it's not a specialised loafers last you have other preferences than what's standard for loafers.
Thanks! For me the Goya half size down fits perfectly, same with Jack last from Skolyx. Just going with Toni's recommendations for my feet. They're perfect 9 D US which translates to the standard 8 UK. When I sent him my foot measurements he recommended the 7.5 UK loafer.

Yeah, Jack is the opposite to Goya, almost everyone size down for this. And it's a dedicated loafers last.

I'm sure half down on Goya works for you, but better you write that then, not a definitive statement like you did, risk giving wrong input to folks here which isn't the purpose of this thread.

Looks cool, but you lost me on the three-tone. The two shades of calf just don't flow right to me. But still cool

Surely it is subjective. But when I wore them, they match so well the burgundy, navy and brown which are all quite same level of "darkness" so to speak. Not formal usage for sue but good enough for office wear and casual.

I’d be maybe interested in an MTO Goya 204. Though I only buy City Rubber soles if I can help it. Then again the only thing you’d really need to change with what is on the TLB site is the sole :D. Maybe something Skolyx can stock?

Picked up three new pairs myself. All are City Rubber soles, and colors that would make them MTO. Luckily found these already customized how I'd want them. Wasn't for sure on the 111 until I found the 110 in Burgundy Museum and was like heck yeah!

Function > Form.

IMO, having walked in both the leather and City Rubber soles, the flex of the City Rubber and overall feel of the ground is superior. I also don't worry about wearing my City Rubber soled shoes back to back days, nor on concrete, wet ground [sole could absorb moisture], etc. To get the same peace of mind with Leather soles you'd probably want toe taps and topy's, at which point, why not just get the rubber soled shoe that has a sleek profile and is pretty hard to tell differently between when looking from above? When I first started my pursuit of nice shoes, I thought it dumb to buy rubber soled shoes, since it seems like so much of the money you pay goes into how the outsole looks. In the end my pragmatic nature won out, and it seems quite the opposite, why go with a leather soled shoe that you have to cover with many different items to try and improve its long term appearance and life? Also, did I mention that rubber soled shoes just feel way better to me when walking around :D?

Either option is $275. DM me for details.

For best fit in Loafers, size down half a size from your usual UK sizing -- e.g. if you're a Size 9 UK in Goya Oxfords, go with a size 8.5 UK.

Both are Goya 117 and are NEW IN BOX.

Option 1 -- UK 9 or 9.5 MTO Penny Loafer in Brown Vegano with City Rubber sole.

Option 2 -- UK 8.5, 9, 9.5 or 10 MTO Penny Loafer in Light/Medium Brown Suede with City Rubber sole.

BTW, I'm not the one selling these. I'm helping out an online retailer of TLB, so this is directly from an online shop you'd be doing business with.

I don't see the Dali last on TLB's website. Where did you get them from?

You know that you can just not worry about wearing out your soles. Rubber soles wear out too.

Rubber soles have no break in but a leather sole should end up being more pliable.

Yep, know these things, but leather soles absorb water and have to be rested more. Plus the rubber sole stays looking close to how you got it for longer than the leather sole. If you wind up putting a topy on the leather sole, why bother since you're hiding what you're paying for.

Happy Memorial Day to anyone who wears a size 8.5 UK in loafers, and also needs a black penny for their collection.

Dali 137 Black Calf Penny Loafer -- $201-221 USD with special promo 15% off [not sure if it's a code or auto applied].

Think Dali was a short term last that they had, along with a couple others. A few pages back I posted a link for a Dali lasted loafer that was on sale from Patine. Definitely looks slick with the chiseled square toe.

When people advise not wearing the same pair back to back the sole is not the only consideration and it isn’t my main consideration. A rubber sole doesn’t change the fact that you shouldn’t wear your shoes back to back days. Unless it’s super slushy or really, really wet leather soles are going to be just fine.

When I first started my pursuit of nice shoes, I thought it dumb to buy rubber soled shoes, since it seems like so much of the money you pay goes into how the outsole looks.

Wasn't this like 20 minutes ago?

“Hiding what you’re paying for” - this only applies if you’re going to pay an upcharge to get JR (or Bakers if it’s another maker) and then topy it because you’re protecting the more expensive sole that isn’t going to see any wear. In the case of TLB Artista you aren’t just “paying for” the sole finishing - you’re paying for uppers, leather stiffeners and toe puffs, liners, some sort of sole. If I go to TLB it isn’t like I get charged more or less by opting for a city sole or their leather sole.

This is the only answer you gave that is actually a good reason for you to want to buy the city sole only but is purely subjective and shouldn’t be handed out as advice.

Rubber soles absolutely serve a purpose and I keep some in my rotation - Mainly on my beaters for winter because we get a lot of slush and salt where I live but keep in mind they are far from a panacea for protecting a shoe in that environment but do help.
