I'm a bigger guy (6'2", 245), and newer to thinking about fashion and developing a style. Would like feedback on loafers. As a large king, I've always felt self conscious as hell wearing loafers. They feel too dainty or slipper like on my big frame, the proportions don't feel right to me. Is this something I need to get over or should I trust my still developing fashion instincts and go with what my heart is telling me? For context, I'm only talking casual wear (with jeans or chinos - - for my work, the accepted uniform is very casual. I have an office gig, but the job falls into a grey area between blue collar and professional - - all of the men wear jeans and polos.) I like the chunkier lug soled loafers I've seen from Blackstock & Weber, Vinny's, Trickers, etc... and feel like those could be worn throughout cooler weather as well. Was curious if those chunk soles are seen as extremely trendy and would be $350 bucks down the drain in a few years? I remember buying some pinstriped and acid washed jeans in my youth, we must attempt to learn from our mistakes. Do classic menswear enthusiasts see those chunky lug soles on a pair of loafers as beyond the pale?
