Do you wear them and if so, what brand, make and materials? Even with my thickest and warmest ensemble (Three piece tweed suit, medium-heavy cotton shirts/turtleneck, overcoat and scarf), the Massachusetts weather this time of year is still getting to me, especially since I'm out at extremely early hours. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Many, including Derek at Putthison, have recommended Smartwool merino baselayers. More delicate than synth-mixes, to be sure, but also supposed to be more insulating. They're the ones I'm going for myself.

Here in Maine where it is currently -6 degrees Fahrenheit I am in front of the fireplace, drinkng a hot mulled wine, in my Smartwool merinos.

I am leaving for Italy in 34.5 days. But who’s counting?

Jockey if you want traditional waffle style, but Merino wool is nice. Icebreaker makes great ones.
