Would the Saphir #09 (Mahogany), be the right match for a pair of Loake Savoy's in Mahogany Burnish?
Going by the name alone i would assume it is a correct match, however i'd prefer to be sure as this will be my first pair of 'good' shoes (despite the anti-Loake vibe in here

Related question: I have a shoe with toes that are a bit darker than the rest of the leather. When polishing, should I use a different, darker polish on this area than on the rest of the shoe?

When you buy Santoni shoes, you get an instruction folder explicitly advising against using neutral polish. Quoting form the manual:

- "The best shoe-polishes are the ones mostly similar to the upper colour, or, at least, a lesser colour tone: never use darker shoe polish."

- "The neutral shoe-polish can be used occasionally, but only for cleaning the shoes. The risk is that the shoes may become grey and wrinkled."

(I use neutral shoe polish quite a lot on my brown shoes, and so far they have neither gone grey, nor wrinkled.)

Interesting. I'm about to buy a pair of C&J Swansea in dark brown leather, but I think they may be a bit too dark. I consider using a slightly lighter brown shoe polish, or maybe even burgundy, but I'm afraid to ruin the appearance of the shoes.
