the picture posted in the first page just killed me. A blazer with shorts!?!!?! Anyways, I am a strong supporter of going sockless, especially in driving mocs. I own three pairs of these http://www.colehaan.com/colehaan/cat...CS_003=4386239. I wear them almost daily with khaki pants, a brown suit, or shorts.

Something I very rarely do--only with boat shoes.

May be okay in certain hot weather situations, but that's about it.

    At least that's my $.02.

If you talk about leather dress shoes and about men wearing them, I dislike the look.
I do like going sockless when it comes to sneakers and loafers.

I wear my socks over my shoes. When I wear loafers I put on two pairs of socks.

You wear those with a suit? Good thing you found this forum.

khaki shorts or madras with black beef roll loafers, sockless, used to be a standard look. check out Take Ivy. and call off the gender police.

I wear shorts a fair amount and have looked for ways of improving the look. SF seems to advocate a loafer sockless look, and also the wearing of pants and dress shoes sockless. I frequently survey the population when I am out and about, and out of 500+ men in shorts, none have been in loafers. It looks simply wrong to me. Similarly pictures of men in slacks and leather shoes sin socks is an affront to nature , IMO. I think what bothers me is that this is a distinctly female style. Women are always wearing nice leather shoes without socks, and it looks great. So why this push to feminize mens fashion? Your thoughts?

Haven't you posted pics of yourself in a cape before?

Yes, this is a look that goes back many decades. There are many pics of JFK and others sporting this look in the 50's and earlier.

I find no appropriate option in your poll ... as this look isn't about being or not being masculine or feminine ... well ... not from my shoes.

To clarify, that would be white, calf high, athletic socks, right? (poly/cotton blend)
    Sexy!

The black loafer looks awful with socks.
The black loafer without socks, worn with shorts or pants, looks very good.

I wear loafer socks. You get the same look with the confidence of knowing that you actually have socks on.

Not everything is about "the look." Not that I like the sockless look.

An adult male probably shouldn't be wearing shorts unless he is on the beach.

I thought going sockless had more to do with season than anything else.
