Sure, check out Housing Works, Beacons Closet, L Train Vintage, follow Jake Wolf on Instagram. He has great information. There’s a high end men’s thrift shop in Brooklyn, they sell great quality mens vintage wear that you can have tailored. sorry the name escapes me. Jake introduced me to this shop. He might be able to assist you with this. As for selvage & American workwear inspired definitely check out Left Field located in Queens - worth the trip! Williamsburg Garment Co. & Fitted Underground are both absolutely unique. They’re ‘the places’ for real handmade custom selvage, etc. Similar to Left Field they’re independent small businesses & they’re great people to work with.
Wow! Excellent tips. Thank you very much!

Hello all,
I've been scouring styleforum for years but finally joined in the wake of reddit's community slowly eroding. Styleforum has always been a bit intimidating but the site has been helpful as a struggling student figuring out what's good.
Cheers all!

Hi everyone. I’m Dave.

What a great forum. I often search to get proper terminology.

For the last year, I’ve taken items from my wardrobe to tailors get them altered, including dress shirts (I overwhelmed the tailor one time by the quantity). Now everything fits and therefore, for me, more comfortable. I added items too, but careful to get slimmer fits.

Best regards.

Hi Dave, what terminology did you have in mind? Having suits, shirts, and the like recut will enable you to amortize your wardrobe and budget to a degree. However, over time items will need to be replaced and you’ll want to be current even if your tastes in style remain classic. The super slim fit trend of the past 15 years is in its swan song days, as evidenced by more relaxed fit slacks and jeans coming en vogue. Pleated pants are creeping back into the market place. So bear in mind that menswear is due for a trend reset.

Thank you, Sinyo18!

You are absolutely correct on all counts.

It's a treat to have clothes that fit properly. Over the past year I documented each article of clothing in a document, identifying what needed altering. It was helpful in identifying what gaps I had in my wardrobe, too. I filled in my wardrobe with items from brands that offer slimmer fits, such as Banana Republic, Kenneth Cole, M&S, Reiss, and added a few made-to-measure items. Right now I pretty much have everything covered.

I’ve sold and donated items quite a bit as well.

I’m not thin enough for super slim - not even an option.

Right now I’m not looking for any tailoring terminology. However, I often find really helpful explanations here.
