Nope. This is one of those “rules” that gets well-meaning dudes who are just getting into menswear twisted up in knots (along with “match your metals”). If you have multiple straps to swap around then knock yourself out, but most guys only have 1 or 2 watches. I’m not buying multiple belts and shoes so they all match. It’s a watch, not a handbag. I don’t have to coordinate it with my shoes. Matching watch leathers and metals seems a bit too fussy to me.

If I was lucky to own a Panerai watch like you, I'd wear it every chance I got and have fun coordinating it to shoe, belt, shirt, coat, hat, whatever. I have my 1967 Omega Seamaster 300 and acquired a few straps to play with.

Matching watch straps to belts or shoes is an absurd “rule” cooked up and maintained by those who have no clue about color beyond the ability to pair something with something else with the same color.

And why belts or shoes? If someone is far enough away to take in your watch strap and shoes with one eyeful, the watch strap should be almost unnoticeable. Having the shirt and/or jacket color work well with the strap (no need to match the color) would seem to be a bigger concern.

I just have 6 watches now - more in the past. Apple Watch and Panerai each have 10 straps. I change watches and straps - sometimes multiple times a day - based on what I am wearing. But I am not matching my belt or shoes.
