How do you feel about patterned shirts with madras plaid patterned trousers? I never saw this done in a way that I felt comfortable looking at.

Nothing should ever be Madras.

I like, but I would change for a light blue shirt - this one looks white. Also, the buttoning point on the jacket is high for my tastes, but maybe that's a critique for another thread

9 out of 10 times I would have chosen a blue shirt. This time I had been wearing blue shirts for quite a few days in a row and I needed some variety. But point taken!

As for the buttoning point, I agree. One of the drawbacks of being tall is that the buttoning point appears higher than what I think is intended for the cut of the jacket. I have an appointment scheduled with a tailor next month and a new blue odd jacket is my top priority....

There's nothing wrong with having patterned pants. I myself have those in my closet. Just make sure you have the right balance when wearing patterned pants

Patterned/Tartan trousers look great on the golfcourse. Can't help feeling that patterned trousers would always be trumped by a plain alternative.

This good thread shouldn't die. If it's patterned odd trousers we're talking, the 1840s-1860s are their heyday. These guys make even the 70s' enthusiasm for bold plaids look halfhearted.
