f(height,shoe size,waist size) = leg opening for some function f.
Does pant rise matter as well? Wider opening for higher rise pants?

With the current style trends, I go by Shoe size + 6.5 - 7 for Flat Fronts and +7.5 - 8 on Pleated.
Nine inches. Because you should add age into the equation. I'm 75 and don't want to look like an asshole in pegged pants. Incidentally, I am an asshole, but chose to disquise that fact with a breezy nine-inch opening.
