Based on your Twitter posts, I thought you were into wide trousers these days?

Only with really casual SWD type looks. Basically stuff like Lemaire.

As promised. 30” waist, 38 jacket, 10.5 us shoe, 5’9” tall, 9.75” leg opening here. Not my go to, but I like it. I need to lengthen the sleeves on the jacket. I’ve thought a lot about slimming the pants and am leaning against it at the moment.

Looks pretty classic to me. I could wear such a leg only in a heavy cloth, because my skinny ankles would show in motion if the fabric is light.

I took both of these vintage PRL pants to the tailor to be tapered today. They both have 10” leg openings. I was deciding between 8.5 and 9 for the taper. I went with 8.5. I should have them back in week. Fingers crossed.

I usually taper older stock RL 8 to 8.25 for suit, 7.75 to 8 for odd trouser.

RL Dalton is a reliable source for forward pleat pants, think it’s almost 9in. RL Preston was 8.5 in?

Why ruin those beautiful trousers?? There must be a reason Ralph designed them that way ...

Alan Bee
The reason was called 1983 and it ain't coming back, force it though you seem to be trying.

I think current Ralph Lauren trousers have a leg opening around 7.5 or 8. Ralph has apparently changed his mind. If I had to guess I would say Ralph designed them that way because that was the fashion at the time, not because he thought a 10 inch leg opening would be an enduring classic.

Honestly shocked by how many people are going with 7”. I would love to see some pictures of this. Maybe I should have included a 6.5” option. I’d also love to see a picture of a 10.5”.

The data is looking pretty normally distributed with a slight left skew. Hard to tell without a 6.5 or 6 option. If that’s your go to, chime in. Include pics.
