A quick report from London yesterday.

11 St Georg Street, the home for many tailors. Withcomb & Shaftesbury is on 5th floor.

WUT!!? No pockets?? And NO suspenders!??
Also having brown separate trouser made to mix with the jacket.

John McGabe is about to retire, but still master the skills with this W Bill cloth.
John gives way to Sian Watson, she has also been trained at Kilgour and used to work with Alexander McQueen as well.

The ever so cute and clever Emily Benson Rhodes work as a tailor with W&S, and as earlier she helps me out with the shirting. We both agree on a sky oxford for this suit.

The Friday Challenge is "Best Spring Outfit with an Easter Accent". I've chosen today's color scheme with Easter eggs, if not Easter in mind.

Suit - New & Lingwood
Shirt - Tyrwhitt
Tie - no name brand, from the now-defunct Daffy's discount store
Cufflinks - M P Levene, London
Braces - BB
PS - PRL
Shoes - Paul Stuart house brand

Then off to the next stopp; English Cut in Chilteren Street.

Sales person Jonathan shows me the suit while we await the ever busy cutter Karl Mattews; he was trained and worked together with Tom Mahon at Anderson & Sheppard. And he can more than just cut and sew. Ask his brother.

High rise trousers are bespoke. Need a bit of cleaning up in the back.

With suspenders this will be good.

I'm happy: so far so good.
Now the suit will be off to Cumbria and EC's workshop for finishing by hand.
I'll be back in midt May to collect both suits. Insallah.

Sure thing. Fun and from time to time, educational.

Educational, and, for me personally, a walk down memory lane, as I stayed in a B&B in Chiltern St. (closer to Baker St. than English Cut) several times in the early 2000's. I note that English Cut seems to be very close to the Chiltern Firehouse, the hot restaurant/boutique hotel of the moment.

EC is located in no 58, at the other end and opposite side, of the street from the Firehouse. Guess 300 meters apart.
Chiltern Street is not more than 10 minutes walk off the busy Oxford Street.
EC is just these days opening a shop in Boston as well. Hope they don't expand to quick; don't want to loose them.
