No mate I am tall, 6 foot 2 to be exact. It is about 1.5cm from ideal length if I'm honest, but still covers ******. Also bear in mind I am a size 40 though, so depending on what you are mine may have some more length. I originally got the 38R and had to return it because it was too short in sleeves and body and small overall but the 40R was ok, I had the sleeves let down about 1.5cm and they are perfect but couldn't do much about the length. Where did you get the measurements?

I thought the measurement said it was 29.25". Maybe I'm just confused.

rugbytartanjacket.jpg

trying on the rugby tartan jacket
i stopped by ralph lauren today... and saw two tartan jackets hanging on the sale rack ...
at first i thought "oh what? i thought they don't take rugby returns at the regular ralph lauren store..."
thinking they were the same jacket as the one i got
but looked inside the jacket and saw the purple label
anyway
too bad it's getting warm in LA already...
not going to be able to wear this out til it gets "cold" again

im feeling this jacket, just curious as to what you would pair it with

no idea yet... still not sure whether i'm going to keep it or not
there's a slight speed bump action on the right shoulder and the chest feels too big
plus the sleeves are too long (working cuff buttons)
i'm going to run it by my tailor and see if it's worth tailoring or just return

and then there's also the problem of trying to match it with things in my closet
feel free to offer up suggestions

i'm really liking the rugby elbow patch wool sweater

Felt elbow patches
(an experiment)

Nothing spectacular, but perhaps interesting for some.
After a failed search for suede elbow patches (I found an American supplier, but they don't ship to NL),
I thought felt might work as a subsitute for suede.

Sweater with holes

Prefab patches, bought for the sizes. I didn't like the shape (or material), so I changed it:

Traced:

Rounded the whole shape:

Voilà:

After some erasing:

Scanned:

Copied in PS:

Cut on felt:

Pinned on sweater:

Half (hand) stitched

Another sweater. Repaired before, but:

Felt options. The first choice was brown, but this particular brown didn't look good on the sweater to my eye. Thus, navy:

With brown DMC (Double Mercerised Cotton) yarn:

Determining the right height with sweater on:

Half stitched with a new type of stitch (feston):

One done:

Also attached on a few points on the inside:
