there are a few terms i have seen mentioned over here that i am unsure what they mean 1. pick stitching 2. people say a suit is canvassed? or half canvassed? also how can you tell on both counts?? thanks

There are many threads about that. Try searching for terms like "canvassed", "fused", in combination with member names like jefferyd and Despos; they're (two of) the experts. Perhaps another member can provide a concrete link to a good thread on this subject.

I second this question. Anybody out there who could enlighten me? Perhaps with pictures too, I'm kind of a slow learner that way.

Here is "˜jeffreyd's explanation.

The pick stitch is that little tiny stitch done along the edges of garments to keep the edge flat and crisp and to keep it from rolling to the wrong side. This was traditionally done by hand but machines have been developed which resemble it, some more than others.

It is traditionally the sign of a well-made bespoke suit.

Go to 'Google Images', look for 'pick stitching suit' - you'll find plenty of illustrations.
