So Herring is haveing a big pre-christmas sale. Does anyone have experience with their Grays chukka? Do any of you know where it is made and if it uses leatherboard in the heel stiffener?

Has anyone tried their Stansteds? Either this or a Loake Aldwych for double price, both danite sole but Loake are made in UK

Only says "Imported", it is unusual since Herring always tell where are their shoes made.
Is it possible China or India?

The remote possibility that it could be Spain given their price point on similar products. I've been pleasantly surprised before (with Nordstroms) I ordered a suit from them that was "imported" online but stated "made in Canada" on the inside tag when I got it in person.

However, most likely somewhere in the Orient given the "imported."

Also out of curiosity,

Who makes Herrings Spanish made shoes? If so, how is the quality?

I know Carlos Santos makes their Portuguese offerings.

Also on an unrelated note-how do the Wildsmith Kennedy loafers look in person?

Brand: Herrings
Model: Weybridge
Manufacturer: Loake
Sole: Dainite
Colour: Bordo grain

Note: A pair of longwings used as beaters, unfortunately I can not find the last, but is clearly a Loake Royal pattern mounted on a different last, maybe 026. IMO this last is better than the one used in the Royal.

How the hell do you always find such nicely lasted longwings? I'm in the market for something like what you have, I don't like the uber tank-ish looking longwings from Allen Edmonds that I own.

Hello, I was thinking about your question, but it seams that the photographs give the image of a slimer shoe.

The AE longwings you own are the Mc Neill? The AE Mc Neill is slimer than the Alden longwings in any of their lasts (generally speacking). Herrings is selling a very nice Loake longwing named Birkdale in the new Bullet last, I am sure that if you contact Herrings they can confirm that the Bullet is slimmer than the Loake's Capital last, if so you might give them a try (the Capital is a not so wide last).

The other option is to hunt for a pair of Alfred Sargent Stepney but the 360 welt gives extra heft to the shoe and maybe is not suitable for you. I hope this helps.

Thank you for the advice!

These are the bad boys that I have, and they are immobile tanks. Very uncomfortable I think due to the weight and blockiness of them.

Anyone else find that these Herring shoe trees (see above Juan Manuel - Weybridge shoe photos) run quite large? I will have to go down 2 sizes (from my USA shoe size) to find the right vamp height and ball width fit. But Herring has been fast to ship to Boston in my experience. And great communication and service too.

Continuing my shoeshinning labour, now some beaters:

Brand: Loake
Model: Chester
Supplier: Herrings
Sole: Dainite
Last: 026
Colour: Mahogany

Note: These shoe have walked with me several european and american cities and have been mistreated a lot, they have seen snow, rain, mud and you can see them happy as always. Next time I should clean the welt with some saddle soap and a toothbrush. The Loake 's 1880 line is very reliable and an excellent place to start a collection. The reddish hue is due to early morning sunlight and layers of wax.

I’ve always liked the Chester. Not in the league of some other shoes but look just right in my opinion.
