No. Someone has to send you an invite and you have to accept.

I realize I'm asking the wrong group of people but has anyone tried the "hangout" feature yet? Just wondering how fluid multiple video feeds are in G+.

Only toyed with it for a little. The cool thing is the ability to show what you're watching on youtube.

I never accepted an invite though. I just went to the website, typed my name in the login and was allowed in. However, two people added me to their circles even before I did this (as I had two notifications when I logged in).

Your link has an extra character at the end.
Once that is removed, it takes me to a page labeled Google+ and asks me to make a profile, but I don't see any prompts as to adding friends or making circles.

That seems to be for Google profiles and not Google Plus.

It looks like the backdoors are broken...

It asks me to join to get to his post but obviously you can't join since they aren't allowing signups.

the email said this: "The Google+ project is currently working out all the kinks with a small group of testers. If you're not able to access Google+, please check back again soon."

Other than a glitch in the system, I have no idea why this happened. People are clamoring to get into Google+, so be happy you have it.
