How the hell did the bike in that picture come out IRL as bare carbon? To me it presents as a bluish gray kinda like Porsche graphite gray.

But I’d certainly take it as a nice bonus for bling purposes 😍

I had the same thought. Alas, the carbon layup is not particularly sexy. I initially thought I was seeing the edge of some sort of protective film on the top tube.

Which bike did you purchase?
Specialized SL6 w/105 (groupset of the people!). Unlike the one I had before, it came with a Power saddle. Also unlike the one I had before, the DT Swiss rims are apparently not tubeless-ready. I am relatively certain I can tape them and they'll hold air, but I will be bummed if I have to run tubes or buy new wheels.

Sounds like you traded down 😕 Any particular reason?
Some more internet sleuthing suggests the wheels are actually the same despite a slight change of name (R470 vs R470db). The Power saddle is better than the one that came with the previous bike, so this is actually a minor upgrade, but essentially the same bike.

Facebook reminded me today that 9 years ago someone captured the moment of OTC going OTB:

You can see how it becomes second nature to pop yourself out of the clipless pedals--my left foot is already out and my rear wheel's not even off the ground yet!

Brah, I haven't raced cyclocross since I was in my 20s so...clearly I'm the one in orange about to go otb.

For the record, that was 100% the other guy's **** up. I was always pretty good at making it through sand features and IIRC I made it through clean on every other lap of the course (none of this getting off and pushing the bike BS).

Always liked how the fork on that bike looked. Beefy straight blades that bowed out and looked like a pair of arms reaching down and grabbing the hub.

Never really fell in love with the rest of that bike though when it came to owning/riding it. Looking back, I wonder if I'd have kept racing CX longer if my other bike hadn't been stolen and replaced with this one.

I'm trying to figure out how he got his back wheel in between your wheels without your wheels being off the ground
