Regarding the leather soles: does anyone else find G&G to be incredibly slippery on marble/smooth floors? I have had other leather soles shoes like Meccariello, TLB, AE, etc and have never had shoes as slippery like G&G, even after the sole has been worn throughout (and even using sandpaper to expedite the process). I’m at a loss on why it’s so much worse for G&G.

Never had this problem. However, higher density of the leather sole can be one possible reason.

My experience is that the inset is a little bit higher than Simpson for the same size but length is probably similar.

When I asked GG they told me to take the same size as I take in EG for what that's worth.

I wear UK8 in both AM soft square and G&G square deco.

I don't currently have any TG73 I'm afraid, but other than the DG70 (which I can't wear), all my G&Gs and AMs are UK8.

Do remember also that the type of shoe can have an impact on hiw it fits, I.e. wholecut vs Oxford vs Derby, etc; and suede vs leather.

Still, I'd go with UK8 based on the above.

Good luck!

A massive 'Thank You' to Simon, and everyone at @gazianogirling involved in the creation of my Optimum Wrens.. they couldn't have turned out any better.... and the fit turned out even better than I imagined.... outstanding! I can see a RTW/MTO pair happening in the not too distant future.. More than chuffed! ?❤

@beau chapeau

Congrats! Have been looking seriously at Optimum; but do I conclude from your comments that you haven't bought from the regular line as yet and so can't particularly compare the two?

I've priced-up the same shoe on both options, and there is a c.£1,300 difference.

Just curious really...

But again, congrats on the Wrens!

May I ask gentlemen whether you send your G&G repairs back to the factory or whether you use a trusted, high quality independent shoe repairer?
