Ahoy, gentlemen. :)

Ironing out some final decisions for an MTO, and considering a Wensum sole, which I have never had before.

Any thoughts or opinions on the Wensum from y’all esteemed folks?
Best slim rubber sole made hands down. Vs all other brands saintcrispin, eg etc “slim” you will be very very happy !!
Roger that - I have several Wensum. Dressy from the side and long wearing.

Hove versus Isham? What say the people?

If it were one or the other I would choose the Isham. I've always liked the Isham better myself. Something about the lines and the stitching on the side and the fact that it has another set of eyelets. I personally like it most on the MH71 Last. So if it were me that is the direction I would go.

Gentlemen,

This is my first GG and I want an proper oxford but also don’t mind a little flair either.

I’m thinking the St. James or Cambridge in Vintage Rioja on Deco last or 73.

This pair will be my go to oxfords in Burgundy hue. I am a classicist at heart and member of AAAC but my cultural context doesn’t allow me to be as formal as I would like...so these GG will fill a role but will not get as much wear as say an Alden PTB or other blucher.

I also “need” a formal shoe in Black as well (Sinatra) but I want to focus on this Burgundy oxford first...

Your thoughts appreciated

I seem to recall from other shoes you've purchased that you have a pretty wide foot right? Can those two lasts, even in wider widths, really accommodate a wide foot?

I think the St. James and Cambridge are both great looking models. I'd probably go with the St. James because I really like an adelaide.

After emailing with Neus @ G&G, I decided on Hove in Vintage Chestnut on MH71 with Single Wensum sole as I need a shoe I can wear out and not destroy the leather soles. We were hit with quite a bit of snow last week and between the melting and salt, the Wensum won out.

So what are the major difference between Isham and Hove @Ttown? Is the Isham a dressier shoe?

Isham from the internets (in Vintage Chestnut actually):

It's the stitching on the sides and number of eyelets that is the difference I think.

Looks like the Isham is 5 Eyelets as opposed to 4, as well as the difference in stitching/wings. Isham seems a little more formal imho but both look great. I think the Hove looks more casual.

My take on it, too.

The St James II in vintage cherry is a classic and personal favouirit. I have it in TG73 and it is gorgeous but I imagine it will look as good if not better in Deco square
