Has anyone had issues with a change of price as you checkout?

The basket has a grand total of 595 pounds with 124.17 tax included. Take away the tax, add 20 pounds postage and you get 490.83. For some reason, when I try to checkout it goes from 490.83 up to 516.66. What is going on?

When you create an account, Ext VAT prices are automatically displayed.

I didn't create an account, but I selected Australia (which is ex-vat).

Maybe that's why there is a 25.83 pound difference.

EDIT:

You start with the total price, take away tax, then the discount is applied to the residual. So the discount is applied after tax is taken away, not before. This is why I have a difference. I assume that's how it should work?

The price should be Listed Price divided by 1.20 (for VAT) and multiplied by 0.8 (for discount).

There should be no difference whether you adjust VAT or 20% discount first.

It should be the same whether you register or not. However, if you do not register, the tax calculation is a bit convoluted due to the 20% discount. To not confuse yourself with how they calculate tax, you should just multiply your total purchase by 0.8 (20% disc) and then divide by 1.2 (VAT) then add 20 (shipping). For example, EG is 660, the net amount is 460 including shipping. This should be the correct amount and should be the same at the end of either way. Hopes this help.

Cheers Barky and APHK! When I use the above method I get: {[(660 + 85) x 0.8] / 1.2 } + 20 = 516.66. The price quoted on the final bill. So it must all be good!

M Dog, what shoes did you pick?

What Wurger said. I couldn't hold back. A nice black cap toe to get the ball rolling.I'll probably end up getting them topy'ed as well. Let's hope we don't catch the same ferry :)!

Wurger has been an absolute champ in providing advice. He has every cap toe under the sun, and is very knowledgeable about the difference between the different brands. Many thanks mate!

Why don't you get flush toe plates instead? Mark can have EG retro-fit them. In the January sale he quoted me £50, but the 20% discount brought it down to £40.

G&G experts: What is the difference between the St. James and the St. James II? How versatile is vintage cherry? I fear that these shoes will look beautiful . . . sitting at the back of my closet.
