There's merit in CM's last post, but the rationale is misapplied in this case. The only people likely to notice and read it as nonchalance are menswear geeks, and likely not even them. The general population will likely wonder why he's wearing a tie when you can't even see it.

Good summary.
Look at CM's two pics. In the first the tie looks like it's floundering to stay above the water. In the second it's given up and sunk. This doesn't convey nonchalance to me, it conveys failure!

Third Party's (a store display) opinion on the subject.........

......of wearing a crew neck with a tie. As you can see, the dummy is about to bonk me over the head with product because she doesn't like the look.

On the other hand, there are some people who don't like glen plaid odd jackets. Maybe that's what she's upset about.

Poll hasn't closed yet, but I guess I may at least dare start thinking about a new challenge. I have a few ideas, but am open to suggestions as well.

'Trad/Ivy' challenge, just as a follow up to the discussion. It would be interesting to see if we can get y'all to buy in to some of the trad ideas.

As long as it doesn't lead to people who never post pictures of themselves starting bizarre threads such as "Are Emus Trad?' as they do in a certain Dianaphilic online group.

(I disliked that girl at first sight and correctly predicted she would not be another Queen Alexandra.)
