    Challenge:

The challenge is to incorporate at least one popular #menswear item into your fit. Some examples are below.

Please note the idea is not to look purposefully ridiculous, but to incorporate the item tastefully.

Otherwise the only rule is you must wear a tailored jacket.

The outfit must be worn this week. DEADLINE for submissions is Sunday, 20 Mar 16 at 1700PST. Poll will expire on Tuesday, 22 Mar 16 at 2100PST. Good luck!

    Monks (bonus: no socks)

    Floppy hats
    [IMG]

    Lapel pins
    [IMG]

    Where to begin...

    Gloves as pocket square
    [IMG]

    Pleated, high rise pents
    [IMG]

    Denim tailoring/accessories

Feel free to post other examples for, er, inspiration.

May I request that someone incorporate ALL of these examples into one fit? Also: Lapel pins? I'm assuming only sufficiently bizarre ones?

Cool. Other than tying a tie penor, I'm not sure I have what's needed to play. Looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with though.

See above. Make your own lapel pin out of feathers. Bonus points if they're sustainably sourced.

In! However, I object the notion that proper waist height and pleats are #menswear (even if they are popular with the #menswear crowd ATM). This would mean that my grandpa was very #menswear.

Can wide lapels be considered as an element meeting the criteria for this challenge?

I'm going to have myself photographed wearing a completely normal outfit, sitting on a Vespa.

Eh, what we wear can't be decontextualized like that. An outfit on you is, and should be, interpreted differently than an outfit in your grandfather, even if every item, down to your underwear, is identical.

This applies to gender, age, country of origin, and probably social status.

Naturally. However, it is the idea of high rise trousers being particularly #menswear that I object to. That's like saying that classic length jackets are #menswear, just because they seem to come back in style now.

I say all this as a self professed #menswear poster.
