Thanks! It helps that you are similar in height as that was my biggest concern as reviews tend to vary with all different heights and I never know if I'm ready something from a 5ft reviewer or a 7ft reviewer , it drives me crazy. I think that should be a mandatory talking point for every reviewer so those that are reading can scale up or down. I think you're right on the money with the 26L. I also would like to use this as an EDC when on vacation, and would rather it not fell like luggage. Can't beat the $100 I just saved either. Now that I think about it, is that extra 8 ounces of space really worth $100 for what I need it for? I'm not positive it is.

Right, 26L in action. Hammock, towel, snorkeling gear, garlic shrimp plate and camera for pics. Life is good with the goruck GR1 so far.

Anyone interested in a Medium Tin Cloth Field Duffel? I picked it up last year new, removed the tags and never found a use for it. It’s the tan version.

They retail for $195... I’m asking $115.

Loving the versatility of the GoRuck GR1. I'm gonna start sourcing a good deal on one and with the $100 I just saved by not choosing the GR2 34L, I can not put towards my first set of packing cubes. Does anyone know which ones will properly fit in the 26L and allow for room for other things like a dopp (etc)?

Like driving to my business trips now because I can take a good assortment of Filsons: 256, small duffle, and small field bag for some day touring (maybe). The nylon garment bag has a suit, and dress shirts. Yes, I have a saved search for a filson garment bag.

I bought the Eagle Creek packing cubes of different sizes depends on needs. Why Eagle Creek? I handled it in REI, seems like good quality, so I bought them. Some other brands may be just as good.

Thought you guys would appreciate this video. I'm on the cusp of ordering one of their products.

Tanner Goods stuff is great quality. I have one of their wallets that I purchased off of Huckberry from their clearance section. Between that and two Gustin wallets, I'm covered for the foreseeable future.

If anybody is interested a "poor mans" Filson holdall, they should look at for an ex British Army Surplus Holdall / Deployment bag dating back to the 1970's & 80's...Those of this period were a decent heavy duty canvas with a solid chunky brass zip. The most common colour is OD, but I have seen them in airforce blue, tan and maroon. Over here a Grade 1 will go for about $25...Just make sure they are the canvas version as they produced a similar holdall in cordura/nylon. I have used my ex issue holdall for about 30 years and its ideal for less formal get aways like deer camps or trips away to the country ect..

You can also get the smaller ex Royal Navy holdalls which were in tan canvas with a leather trim and handles which is known as the "Pussers Grip"

The leather trim/details makes them a step up in quality from the Army holdalls, but are still along way from the fine luxury of some of the high end items seen on here. Sadly, they seem to have become rare and somewhat collectable so the value for money aspect is not so good any more but I am very pleased with the $15 I spent on mine some 20 years ago! (Both pics above are off the net, just to give examples)

OMG, just a heads up... GORUCK has announced that they will be doing a price increase across their entire line on Sept. 1. You can read the announcement on their webpage, but you might want to go ahead and pull the trigger in the next two weeks if you are planning on buying new. If not, good deals to be had on eBay as well...

Just checking to see if anyone has had the handles on their Filson tote shortened. I have one that I use a good bit and want to shorten mine. Right now is has about a 10" drop, but I think an 8" would be better for me. I was thinking of doing it myself, but wanted to know if anyone has done it and if they did, who did they send it to. Thanks in advance.

Hey @Mr.K , did you ever get round to shortening those straps? I have a zippered tote incoming, and I was thinking to mod the straps myself. I've tried searching through this thread but couldn't see you coming back to this.
