Sorry, original post somehow got deleted. So anyway, I want to remove them because they my pants keep getting caught in them. I tried stitching them (as one member suggested), but that didn't work out cost the tabs stick further up past the edge.

On other boots with cloth/elastic tabs, I just tuck them in. I don't really know what to do with these except to remove them.

They look like seconds to me...

On a separate note, pricing is getting a little weird. The spread in price between rare shall cordovan from Alden and EG calf in some shoes has narrowed to approx. $120 for US buyers.

Do any of you guys own EG shell shoes? This is something I have not seriously considered in the past, but I saw the EG PTB on Mr Porter, which reminded me EG offers shell in more than a few models.

I own a pair and @DpprDr owns a pair. Both are Derwents, his is in Brown or Cognac and mine are in Navy. I think @NAMOR had a pair or two at one time.

Fair enough. Thanks. I have only seen the brown and cognac EG shell in person once. I would consider them, but it seems a stiff premium over C&J shell and other alternatives. And while EG construction is excellent, they're essentially using the same shell as others supplied by Horween.

True, but I didn't pay retail, so I got mine at a pretty good price. Since I didn't have any navy shell at the time, I couldn't pass it up.
