With nano protector, suede is damn tough particularly on the shaft of the boot. If I am in ankle deep waters, I am wearing Bean boots.
I'm not convinced that I'm going to wade in ankle waist waters with these. However it's more to the point that I could if I wanted too. For me I just don't see the point in getting such a tough piece of leather and combining it with something that would be less so.

Hear, hear! In case you're not averse to the idea of shearling lining, you should join the GMTO I'm trying to put together. PM for details :)

Cheers

Thanks. I would but the shearling is a deal breaker for me as I run hot as is :)

I am going with the GMTO as I think the all Zug will be very nice as well.

I like suede with smooth calf, but less so with grain and less so again with zug. Seems like a less than ideal pairing - conceptually and aesthetically. A thick, heavy robust leather with delicate-looking suede. Not really feeling it. Just like I wouldn't really see suede going with a heavy waxy / oily leather like Alden's "Kudu".

I agree that suede is actually more durable than many people think - I have a pair of all-suede bal boots that have served me very well over this very harsh winter. I just don't warm to the combination with zug.

I think all-zug will rock as a dedicated go-anywhere do-anything boot

I agree zug and suede look great. However with zug I am not looking for any particular aesthetic achievement. I want a mauler of a boot that can withstand all the intermittent shower, flood, cat 5s etc.

salt water, chainsaw, nuclear attack etc etc. I am for all zug version too. Look at it this way, if we go for all zug version then we all have a reason to buy that walnut country calf/ mocca suede shearling Galway too. :stirpot:

The Zug makeup that smoothie is working with sounds great. I'm all over that. Add me to the list, and pmd.

I am a little confused as to whom actually has rights to the zug. My preference is for all zug however if that cannot be achieved I would be in for an alternate make up. Is simply the first group to submit the mto to leaves?

Since there's enough for fifteen, I would think there would be enough for fifteen boots of any combination.

This could be fifteen all of one kind or it might also mean 8 of one kind and 7 of another or any other numbers as long as both meet the minimum for an MTO..

I think that ideally he would want all 15 boots made and by having both choices, this might be even easier to make that happen.

I guess however for the official word we'll have to wait and see what Patrik says.

It might be possible for 2 MTO but I am firmly in all zug camp. It can be with or without shear-ling whatever group decide.

Same here - I'd be in on the all Gorse, unlined.

Makes my 2 purchases in 10 months seem reasonable. On the other hand it serves as a reminder that I have some catching up to do.
