Wingtip brogue is always artificially elongating the shoe. That's why I don't like them.

Hey fellas!

Thanks to you guys and your beautiful shoes, I have been lusting after a pair of Edward Greens that I can call my own. Well, after a long 7 month wait, I can finally say that I am an owner and I couldn't be happier!

For my first pair of EG's, I decided to go the MTO route. I know this was a bit risky since I had no previous experience with EG and their sizing, but thanks to Andrew (@andrewmrsid), the process could not have gone smoother.

Enough babbling. Here they are!!

IMG_2887.JPG

Specs:

  • EG Galway
  • E64 last
  • Veldschoen construction
  • Zug leather
  • Full bellows tongue
  • Fully leather lined with "wheat calf" leather
  • Ridgeway soles
First impressions:

The boots are beautifully made. EG knows their stuff, but I don't have to tell you guys that. You all know what I am talking about. The zug leather is also very interesting. It is supple, yet it has a nice waxy texture to it. Although it resembles pebble grain, it's totally different. I have no doubt these boots will keep my feet dry when I get them wet.

The full bellows tongues are pretty awesome, though I will say that getting the boots on was a bit of a challenge. I was worried at firs that the boots were too small, but once I got my feet inside, they are an absolute perfect fit. I think with a bit of time, once the leather relaxes a bit, getting the boots on will become easier.

I look forward to enjoying these boots for many years to come.

thought EG was out of zug?

I was told the same thing

As far as I know, they don't have any on hand, but they were able to order some for me.

They were out of zug or heather gorse leather from Ilcea factory in Italy, this factory does not produces zug/heather gorse leather anymore. However zug is available from Horween factory in USA. Horween still prodeces zug

Those zug Galways are hardcore. Is this Zug from Horween or were they able to find some of the original?

So I've just acquired my first pair of EG's (from Ebay I confess). They are in great shape, look great... but smell terrible. For a few days I wondered if somehow my baby's dirty diaper made its way into my office. Eventually I realized it was the shoe! I can't imagine has anything to do with Edward Green. Still, if you have any suggestions. It is a bit of chemical smell...
