I first became acquainted with E. Vogel shoes by reading the book, "Handmade Shoes for Men" by Laszlow Vass. This American shoe maker is well known in the equestrian community
and also makes some top notch shoes. Bear in mind that I sell the very best; Lobb, Edward Green, Weston, etc.
The shoes you are viewing have been well cared for and of course custom made. They fit about an 11D US but please compare the outsole measurement and recognize that returns are not accepted.
There are times on Ebay when high value items don't garner high resale prices, this is one of those times. Unless you wear Crockett & Jones or better, these will outdo Alden, Allen Edmonds or
any other American maker that I can consider. They are hand made by custom lasts shaped to the owner's feet. Basically not heard of in the 21st century of American shoe making.
The substantial pebble grain leather and weighty sole are robust and likely to last a lifetime if taken care of.
Outsole measures: 12 3/8ths x 4 1/2"
Consider my luxury store and very solid feedback!
Excerpt from the NY Magazine...
Family-run since 1879, E. Vogel specializes in custom-made men's dress shoes and jodhpur boots, and is shy to boast about a customer list that includes such unlikely companions as Paul Newman, Henry Kissinger, James Gandolfini, and the United States Equestrian Team. (The shop also makes women’s shoes, but only in mannish styles, like loafers and golf shoes.) Expect to pay a bundle for Vogel’s custom-made shoes; subsequent pairs are less pricey because the first pair includes the price of a last, or wooden form of your distinctive tootsies, that will guide their later handiwork. The real treasure, however, is largely hidden from view: Four stories of leather, polish, and vintage shoemaking machinery, with legions of black-fingered, leather-aproned Gepettos hard at work. — Sarah Walker
