I've heard conflicting reports about the immunity. The IMF's articles supposedly grant him limited immunity in re work-related matters, but he may benefit from full immunity under earlier treaties covering the heads of UN agencies.

In either event the IMF could just waive immunity. In many other cases, even if immunity wasn't waived the official was still charged in their home jurisdiction"”I recall a drunk driving case involving a Russian diplomat in Ottawa a few years ago. But the IMF isn't a state with its own judicial system (he'd just go free), so I don't know why they'd go out on a limb for him, and I don't know why he'd risk looking like an even bigger jerk in the face of a possible trial.

DSK being the head of IMF should be on par with a Head of State like Barrack.
If IMF wont go out on a limb for their head honcho, who would they go out on a limb for?

As for looking like a bigger jerk, DSK wont mind being slammed as a ******, instead of having a new husband in jail.

They just took the higher price to convey the idea he's a filthy plutocrat - wealth and money are somewhat taboo in France. All this comes in a whole defamatory campaign against him (it started last week, just before the sex scandal).

Indeed, Strauss-Kahn was the man to kill... Too popular, too brilliant, too likely to win next year's presidential election. The guy is notoriously "sex-oriented" (I even know a girl who met him at a swingers' party), but obviously not a ******. Sad story.

Dream on....

They likely went by the notoriously high rack rate. They did the same thing when saying his Premiere Class ticket from JFK-CDG was $10k. Sure, that's what it sells for, but Air France also issues upgrades from business class all the time. Few passengers every really pay for first class. Given the amount of time he travels, he's probably flitting back and forth across the Atlantic a great deal and likely has elite status.

As to his suits, maybe he'd buy $25k worth of suits, but I doubt any single suit cost that much.

DSK does all right, but his salary is in the $450k region, and he receives a $75k "cost of living" bonus, along with many, many perks and expenses -- but he's not platinum rap star hedge fund manager level. DSK's particular wealth comes in the form of power, not money.

You seem to know alot about DSK, to the stage of being stalker creepy.
Anyway, why cant IMF pay for their head's first class tickets.
What makes you think the guy needs to get discount coupon version of first class travel?
IMF is soaked with money you know.
