hi ...
i am a newbie to de shaving ... i just bought
an edwin jagger de89 razor with a derby
5-pack of blades ... i'm confused
on 1 thing ... the blade edges are numbered
1-4 ... does it matter which side of
the blade is up and which is down
(toward the handle) ... put another way,
do you actually have 4 edge surfaces to shave with
depending on which side of the blade is up
or down, or does it not matter (ie, you
only have 2 blade edges to shave with) ...
thanks so much ... !!!!!

I'm, not sure what you mean, a picture would be helpful. I use a safety razor as well, and when i change the blade there is only one way it will fit. This gives me two blades to use, i.e two sides. It really shouln't matter which way you put it in, as long as it fits. There should be two or more holes on the blade and it cuts in both directions unless you have some special sort of blade.

stefani ...

thanks for your note ... my point was simple ... does it matter which side is up
or which side is down when you install the blade ... i use derby blades ...
one side of the blade is marked 1 and 2 for the two edges
to the blade ... the other side is marked 3 and 4 for the other two edges ...
when i installed the blade i put the side with 1 and 2 facing up ...
can i flip the blade over and use side 3 and 4 as well ... the blade fits
either way ... make sense ?? thanks
