I think that with a bit more patience, work, and lady luck, I could evolve into wearing exclusively Canadian made exotic vintage shoes. There is so much quality stuff out there, and as jiqea said, the exotics clean up really nicely. I don't know if there were shell offerings.

It is SO funny that you wrote oxide, not oxhide, because we were just cracking wise with that earlier today, as part of an ongoing joke.

Don't worry Ken. I made the same oxide mistake earlier today and Paul was all over me like a cougar on a crippled chicken. He just wont let it rust.

There is no rust for the wicked. And for the record, it was ME who first wrote "oxide" as a joke referring to his man problems!

I’ve said this many times. I am glad this thread is thriving now. I hope to wear a few pairs of my Canadian brands next week.

This week was mostly vintage LWBs made in USA.

Question: Did any of the Canadian shoe companies use shell cordovan?

I love my antelope and oxide. But shell is just next level.

I cant imagine that Shell was never used, but I have yet to see a pair from any of the Canadian firms (guaranteeing that one will be posted within the hour). I have a pair of Alden shell boots, but to be honest, I don't totally get all the fuss. I like the pairs that are well styled. I have my eyes open for a nice pair of Florsheims, and until then I will reserve judgement.

Like Paul says, I think I could pretty much wear all Canadian exotics and be pretty happy in shoes. Boots would be a different story. I need England for my boots fix.

And a pair of nice Slater shoes (on eBay, not mine) made for Morgan's Department Store.

Morgan's (if you don't know) was a Montreal-based chain that was acquired by The Bay in 1960. Although Ontario Morgan's locations changed banners to The Bay in 1964, the Quebec stores continued to operate as Morgan's until 1972. However, the Morgan's logo was updated in 1964 for the Quebec stores to resemble the Bay logo in styling. The shoes above feature the old Morgan's logo, so we can be confident they are from before 1964.

Those are so handsome. Ms. Slater would surely give me the nod of approval!

She will not budge on price, but these are likely worth her asking. They appear to be 9.5 B if I am reading the coding correctly. Good history on Morgan captain! I didn't know any of that. But I am woke now!!!!

In the spirit of Seaweed Gin, the unofficial libation of this All-Canadian thread, I bring you the proof of NFLD uniqueness. I suspect @lbgradwell , err, the Dark and Stormy Captain, to be looking for an easy way to pay for the truckload of 11.5D antelope we have been hoarding, and is cobbling together a still as we speak!

I really like shell. 6 pairs at this point. All US brands - 4 Florsheim, 1 AE, and 1 Keith Highlander. All vintage.

The colour and patina are just so unique and easy to maintain. Some good brushing and just a bit of conditioner keeps them shining.

Haha! It's been all over the news here for a couple of days. Odd, indeed. (I will admit this: A shuttered community pool sits directly behind my house on property that was once my grandfather's. I'll say no more.)

But all was for naught if you're sitting on a boatload of 11.5Ds, for I require 11.5EE/12D/12E!
