Awesome boots. Love the unique stitching on the shafts and the anteater accents on the pulls, with i could find a pair.

only illegal to import skins/boots, not to possess preban boots in US.

And carrying/wearing them across a border is something I would not do, new or old.

Boss! Semi-serious question: any chance of scaring your horse wearing those? We're headed to New Mexico in a couple of weeks and I get to wear my boots! :slayer:

If it weren't so funny, SF members critiquing cowboy boots...especially boots as iconically tacky as the snakeheads...might call their judgment on all other issues in to question.

It's irony, right?

There is a very similar boot on display at the Atlanta zoo that warns of the dangers of buying bad ass boots. Of course after a few years in the direct sunlight they are ruined.

I like cowboy boots fine. I've been making them...bespoke...for over 40 years.

So what's your objection to tacky boots? Isn't a lot of western wear inherently tacky?

The Alameda Flea Market has a ton of vintage and used pairs of cowboy boots every month. They are still off the radar in the Bay Area. I think I may look for a cool pair with some nice honest wear to kick around in jeans. I'll give it another try.

I guess all of my boots are Tex style. Never needed anything to take them on or off. I guess the next time I'm up in Montana or Wyoming I'll have to try out a pair of the Northern style.

Western wear isn't necessarily tacky unless you're talking about the urban cowboy segment. Out West/SW and throughout the Plains it's everyday clothing. It's like everything else, take it out of it's element and just about everything can look weird or whatever.

A few points:
1. The chicks that dig boots in a bar likely don't really care if you take them off for sexual exploits.

2. Displaying snake head boots with a sign about them being endangered at the Atlanta zoo will not make those viewing patrons worry about the illegality of the purchase of those boots. Those patrons would be FAR more likely to know the snakes to be endangered by pistols, rifles, shovels, and hoes. That would mean to wear those around might be risking getting one's own foot shot or bludgeoned. Arrest would likely not be the concern.
In Alabama, Arizona, and likely Mississippi wearing those boots would be prone to cause you to prove your citizenship.
