I stopped by the local Club Monaco store on 15th and Walnut and was interested by their selection. The SAs were very helpful. I found a blazer I was interested in that wasn't in my size. They called another store and had it shipped to me. I received it the next day. I found the blazer construction quite interesting. Everything is obviously machine made, plastic buttons and the suit is fully fused. It's the Wight fit "Narrow Lapel, Modern Length, High Closure". It cost me under $100, down from $250.

Lining: (this is the cheapest part)

Please note, I have not tailored the coat yet. I'm not thrilled about the fit, but for the price I think it's fine. I think buttoning the sleeves fully will help the sleeve pitch, which looks odd in the photos. It's a size 40 but the shoulders measure 17.5" across the back.

I am not a fan of Club Monaco, but it's not a bad deal for this price, even if you have to spend money to alter it.

Yeah, I am. I'm not really asking for advice, unless someone feels strongly about it. I just wanted to share what I've found.

CM has been doing some interesting stuff since they hired on a former Thom Browne designer/employee/whatever. This is obviously heavily inspired by Thom stuff with the lapel shape and high closure. That is actually not a blazer but an orphaned suit jacket, the pants are sold separate, they come cuffed with a button fly and high waist. Wright fit also comes in some patterns in a true 2 button (yours is three rolled to two) and a centre vent.

I quite like the jacket it just looks a little awkward when it's closed because the button stance is so high it makes the bottom flare out. I have a navy suit in the two button centre vent fit and it does the same thing but its a good workhorse suit for the price. Another problem is the sleeve length is too long to show cuff OTR and the surgeons cuffs prevent it from being shortened properly, unless you have really long arms and have shirts to match. I think I have average to longer length arms than most people and I can barely get it to show cuff even with the arm shortened a little.

Slight clarification but the new designer used to work with TB at Black Fleece.

Thanks, yes, I couldn't totally remember where he came from.

I'm planning on going to the CM store to see if they have the matching pants. I don't remember seeing them there. It definitely has a bastardized Thom Browne feel considering the rigid fusing and the fabric. The fabric is actually pretty good considering the price, but it's nothing great.

Bumping this thread to say that I bought the same today but including the pants. On sale I'd say it's a pretty good buy... their sizing is odd. I'm a 40R/33 but I had to take size 32 pants and am considering going back tomorrow and trying on 31s.

CM is notorious for vanity sizing their trousers. I generally wear a 38/39, and I can comfortably fit into their sz. 36 trousers.
