Focusing on two

1. Light blue: Ok, I'm convinced, on my list for the future...can work very nicely for summer so long as, as SB emphasizes, darker than shirt.
2. Beige and similar colors: UC, I'm feeling the first pic more than the second, and I think partly that's the blue versus white shirt. Not sure if that's just me (and this is a relative ordering). I like the first a lot.

Good evening all. Here's somewhat of a challenge and a bit of a style quandary. Where do you think classic sweaters lie in the casual classic menswear environment? I've been on a bit of a bender wearing odd trousers and tucked casual sweaters, like this Saint James Breton I picked up on eBay recently. Do outfits like this belong in classic menswear? Are they too informal or do they perhaps demonstrate some level of sprezz? I'm interested to hear your opinions on my specific outfit as well as the question in general. It would be great to see similar outfits from others here too.

Well, in the 1930s, sweaters were accepted for beachcombing or boating or tennis or cricket, as shown in Apparel Arts.

I like Willm's Riesling. Will try their Pinot Gris sometime.

The 2014 Pinot Gris is a good vintage. It's right in the middle between dry and sweet and has a light fruity taste, but I would put it closer to a green apple with some earthy undertones to it. It's not overpowering, I'd say medium bodied. Definitely give it a try.

I am curious how much stretching folks are experiencing with their ties. Loose weave ties (knits, grenadines) are said to stretch, but in attempting to sell a few ties recently and measuring them, I'm finding many ties to be longer than I thought I had ordered/purchased. Surprisingly, wool ties seem to have a bit of stretch to them. That's an impression, perhaps a false one.

LOL, unlike you I have only 20-25 ties each for F/W or S/S. Some people find that a large number. I'm trying to stick to the max 20 ties per cold or warm seasons, but it's very hard to. Trying just to use 10 for the next month.

Hell, I know barbarians who survive with 10 ties total, and downright animals who think that having 10 ties is more than any reasonable man could need. Good on you for trying to minimize.

Olive as a spring/summer color, especially for ties? I'm not feeling it, but it seems to be one of the shantung colors of choice. Why?

Olive seems like a standard summer suit color. Why not for ties?

Dusty greens work with dusty browns/tans. It's a nice low-contrast (or palewave) look for summer. Spring, not so much; pastels are more seasonally appropriate then.

Thanks...how does one gauge the seasonality of the color. Differentiating olive from forest green, an olive often more desaturated and "brown"?
