But what if the guy owns lots of oil wells in rural East Texas that he needs to oversee, is already married to a smoking hot blonde, has a private chef who is clasically trained in French cooking, has a G550 so he can get out of town on the weekends, and has a personal shopper who sends him the latest stuff from Neiman Marcus and Stanley Korshak in Dallas? Hell at that point basically the only reason to move to NY would be for the architecture and the friendly people...

Unfortunately, no oil wells or smoking hot blonde. No women at all where I live, actually. All single moms and no one of any substance. So...I'm going to try NY. You only live once, right? Just turned 30. Work is offering huge bonuses and cost of living increases to make the transfer. I can't wait.

OP: There are tons in 'Yurp. We have trams, bike cultures, metros, compact city centres, partic in northern 'Yurp. Unless you have a jobs which involves travel, or you insist on driving 2km to work, a car isn't essential. Nice, maybe, for the freedom to get out of city at weekends.

Friendly people in NY? That's laughable.
