Yeah I know you have to ask for it in the notes section. They send me this picture when I asked for it and you can see some carmina shoes with hatchgrain if you search on the web

All our suedes are reverse calf, repello would be the only exception.

I attach some pictures for your reference, this would be our regular suede. Suede is always sourced from Charles F steed and as someone mentioned in the thread it is extremely expensive to source given it's high quality and low availability. Charles F Steed names this suede as Janus suede.

Reverse suede would have the top grain on one side (which would be in the inner side of the shoe) and the fuzzy suede texture on the outside.

We also source repello suede (split suede) for casual shoes, generally boots. Although if we use Repello, it is always stated in the product description. Repello is also sourced from Charles F. steed, it is called Repello Calf.

In this case, the top grain is buffed or "split" to create a fuzzy effect. Therefore, we would have the "hair" in both sides of the leather. Repello is less expensive to source than our reverse suede however, it is recommended for casual shoes which will have a higher use.

We aren't experts on how these leathers are tanned. However, suede is tanned to acquire a very soft yet durable finish. Therefore, shoes manufactured in suede would be much quicker to break in.
Awesome explanation!

I don't think so, repello is split. I don’t think Carmina offer any reverse suede. They source most suedes from CFStead but only Janus calf from CFS is reverse which is much more pricier.

The Janus calf is unbelievably nice, I had the Viberg jodhs made in it.

Hi @Carmina,

can you share with us more info in regards to your hatchgrain?, Is it the highest quality out there?, similar to EG's hatchgrain?.

Thanks in advance
