I bought a pair of black captoe derbys (CJ Boswell - now discontinued) and love them. I am now looking for a brown pair as well and am looking for some suggestions. The 2 that I have found. I would love to buy the Prestwood but its a little out of my budget. CJ Bradford with double sole for 250 GBP

CJ Prestwood with dainite sole for 331 GBP

Just wondering why such a specific question when there really is no right or wrong answer.

Also realized that there are limited choice while selecting a plain captoe derby. In fact I came across only this at Pediwear. Any other suggestions...

Also I read in some other thread that though derbys are considered OK with suits in Europe it is not so in the US. Or maybe the other way round. Is that correct ?

PS: Is captoe derby the correct term for this shoe ?

Thanks for reading and best regards.

These are nice-- not strictly correct, and not the most formal things going, but if you have a suit that needs black shoes and don't need to look like you're presenting your credentials to the queen, why not?

A decent fit with grey flannel, perhaps, or some 16-oz worsted with a little texture.

Aberdeen last is a fantastic last and currently my favourite. These brogue captoe bluchers are also very nice - Vox has a pair IIRC and they look great.

^^ I have no problem 'squeezing' my feet into oxfords. I prefer derbys. I just sold my CJ Hallam and intend to replace it with one of the 2 shoes above
